Professor Andrew Lin

Professor of Language, History & Society and Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Westminster

Andrew Linn has been Professor of Language, History & Society and Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Westminster since February 2016. Prior to joining Westminster he was at the University of Sheffield, UK for 20 years, latterly as Professor of the History of Linguistics and Director of Research for the Arts and Humanities. His research covers language planning & language policy and the history of linguistics. Recent publications include articles on language standardisation in international business, language planning in Norway and the emergence of applied linguistics in the late 19th century. Andrew is a Fellow of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and president of the British society for the history of linguistics.
